PARIS Delivers Cosmic LP, ‘Labyrinth,’ on Lane 8’s This Never Happened

Australian DJ and producer PARIS has released her debut album, Labyrinth, via Lane 8’s label, This Never Happened, featuring Juno Mamba and Rinzen.

Debut albums mark a moment in time, and DJ, producer, and artist PARIS is marking a decade-long evolution with her 12-track LP, Labyrinth. The project blends deep grooves, cosmic sounds, and soft vocals, benefiting from the magic touch of Australian talent Juno Mamba and Los Angeles-based artist Rinzen. It’s a record that fits perfectly into the “experience the moment” motto of This Never Happened as it makes you feel present with its sharp yet dreamy production.

The album includes two enticing collaborations and goes big with 12 singles, so listeners can instantly get a sense that Labyrinth is a carefully crafted musical journey from PARIS to her fans. From the dark, pulsating opener, “Genesis,” to the contemplative “Papaya” and the deep, bubbly tempo on “Rain on a Monday,” the artist showcases a refined sonic vision that’s stacked with creativity.

Another standout is “Stay” featuring Filipino-Australian producer Juno Mamba, a track that offers a euphoric release of melodic rhythms and moving vocals. Additionally, “Wildfire” is an indelible cut built alongside LA house and techno DJ Rinzen, whose heavier and fuller elements shine through. Landing ninth on the album, “Black Dhalia” has a continuous atmospheric tone that pulls you in as it builds up to the end.

The album closes out with “Beechworth Cascades,” a single inspired by a hike PARIS took in rural Victoria, where she captured field noises and implemented them into the track’s production to ground electronic and organic sounds in one place. Labyrinth not only marks 10 years of evolution and discovery for the Australian artist, but also a new sense of self.

“The labyrinth felt like the perfect metaphor for this process,” PARIS explained. “Going inward, exploring, making sense of all these parts of myself, and then surfacing with something to share. With a labyrinth, you go in, but you also come out — and there’s only one path.”
